Palestine 1947 (coming soon 1945 and 1946)

Introduction: Palestine (1945–1947)

Between the end of the Second World War in 1945 and the United Nations vote on partition in late 1947, Mandate Palestine became the focal point of an intense, violent, and geopolitical struggle. Marked by the tragic aftermath of the Holocaust, growing Jewish nationalism, Arab determination for self-determination, and the declining influence of the British Empire, these pivotal years set the stage for the modern Middle East.

While accepted by Jewish leadership, the partition plan was rejected by Arab leaders and neighboring states, triggering immediate communal clashes that escalated into full-scale war upon the British departure in May 1948. This historical collection documents the critical prelude to that conflict.
