The commemorative issue of March 4th, 1922
‘The Wedding of Princess Mary '

(Appendix List 81) illustrates
scenes of the wedding, the couple‘s honeymoon in Paris and their
various homes. A coloured supplement presented with this issue was the
painting of Princess Mary and Viscount Lascelles specially done for
the ILN by John St. Helier Lander.
The coloured cover design is by Gordon Nicoll and shows portraits of
the bride and bridegroom in oval frames topped by their respective coats
of arms. Below this section is a plinth decorated with such traditional
wedding motifs as torches, bells, garlands of orange blossom, doves,
cupids and wedding horns against swathes of blue drapery.
This issue is number 4324, vol. 160, pages 277-336, measuring 40 x 27
cm. and priced at two shillings.
