On May 16th of the following year, 1876, the return of the Prince of Wales from India was commemorated by the ‘Welcome Home Number’
(Appendix List no. 5) It contains engravings of the different provinces of India, ceremonies of his reception, festivities and entertainments both in Presidency capital cities and at the courts of native princes, with scenes of the sports of tiger and elephant hunting in the Terai of Nepaul and incidents of the voyage back home. The engravings are linked to a complete narrative of the visit of the Prince from leaving for India in October to his arrival home in May.
The issue is of 40 pages, measures 42 x 30 cm, cost one shilling and has a decorative cover in gold, blue, red and white depicting ornamental floral motifs in the Indian style.next page >>
