On July 31st 1889 the ILN published a royal wedding number to commemorate the marriage of Princess Louise of Wales and Alexander, Duke of Fife.

(Appendix List no. 19) Princess Louise was the eldest daughter of the Prince of Wales (and the first of his children to be married) and the bridegroom was the only son of James fifth Earl of Fife. The issue describes the marriage ceremony in the Private Chapel of Buckingham Palace on Saturday July 27th, the wedding gifts and reception and contains a long history of the Dukes of Fife. The wrapper is in silver and blue and shows a photographic representation of the bride and groom in oval frames. These are surmounted by a cupid amongst roses and thistles holding a wedding torch in one hand and a tambourine in the other. Beneath the portraits is a bridal spray of roses and thistles. The issue has 32 pages, measures 30 x 42 cm and was priced at one shilling. next page >>
